Former cricketer Muhammad Yousaf has stepped down from his position on the National Selection Committee. Announcing his resignation on social media, Yousaf cited personal reasons as the driving force behind his decision.
In his heartfelt message, Yousaf expressed pride in his contributions to the success of the national team, stating, “I have played a role in the success of the Pakistan team, and I have complete faith in the players’ spirit and talent. I wish the national team all the best for future victories.” His words reflect a deep connection with the team and a commitment to its ongoing success.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed his voluntary resignation from the committee, stating that Yousaf wishes to focus on other significant responsibilities. They expressed their sincere gratitude for his contributions during his tenure and emphasized that he will continue to play an important role within the PCB, specifically as a batting coach at the High-Performance Center. His extensive knowledge and experience will undoubtedly be invaluable to the next generation of cricketers.
Prior to this, Yousaf had served as the head coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team, leading them to a commendable third-place finish in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 held in South Africa.
This recent change comes on the heels of a major overhaul within the PCB, which saw the removal of several key figures, including Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razak, following the team’s lackluster performance in the T20 World Cup. With Yousaf’s departure, the selection committee is poised for new dynamics as it seeks to revitalize the national team’s fortunes.
