PESHAWAR: Murad Saeed, minister for communication, is leading Prime Minister Imran Khan’s list of best performing ministries announced on Thursday.
Saeed’s ministry was awarded top position among the ten ministers who have received certificates of appreciation from Prime Minister for their “outstanding performance”. A ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s Office where Imran Khan presented certificates of appreciation to ministers. Ministers and government officials attended the ceremony.

In the best performance list, Murad Saeed’s Ministry of Communications stands first, Asad Umar’s Ministry of Planning second, Sania Nishtar’s Ministry of Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation third and Shafqat Mahmood’s Ministry of Education was awarded fourth position.
Shirin Mazari’s Ministry of Human Rights was fifth on list of best performing ministries, Khusro Bakhtiar’s Ministry of Industry and Production sixth, Moeed Yusuf’s Ministry of National Security was at seventh, Abdul Razzak Dawood’s Ministry of Commerce was at eighth. Sheikh Rashid’s Ministry of Interior was ninth and Syed Fakhar Imam’s Ministry of National Food Security was at tenth position.
Among those who could not get good performance certificates are some active ministers who are seen in the media defending the government. It include information minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin and ministry for environment Zartaj Gul.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shehzad Arbab has prepared a report in this regard and submitted it to the PM’s Office. Employees of the best performing ministries will be given extra allowance.
Dr Sania Nishtar, Asad Umar, Shah Mehmood, Sheikh Rashid, Farogh Naseem Murad Saeed, Malik Amin Aslam, Khusro Bakhtiar, Abdul Razzaq Daud, Umar Ayub, Hamad Azhar, Shaukat Tarin, Fawad Chaudhry, Azam Swati And Shibli Faraz were among the federal ministers nominated for best performance award.
In his address to the ceremony, Prime Minister said that he was lagging behind in his studies in schools but he focused attention on studies after his school started announcing marks in the class. He hoped that next time all the ministers would be invited to the function and every ministry will perform well. The PM said that it will improve the performance of the government.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Establishment Division Shehzad Arbab during the ceremony explained the method of evaluating the performance of ministries. He said the government had a total of 1,090 targets, of which 426 would be achieved this year. Of these, 207 were related to governance, more than 100 were related to economic development and 64 were related to policy and legislation.
