PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Higher Education Kamran Khan Bangash said that 12 new degree colleges will be set up in the tribal area while directions have been issued to provide transport facilities to 43 other colleges.
Bangash informed KP assembly that with the developmental plan devised by the current government, the tribal belt will be brought at par with the settled districts of the province. He said that the government is working to establish a university in tribal districts but it will take time as it has been only three years since the area was merged with the province.

Bangash said that in the past the tribal belt was completely ignored by successive governments but the PTI has carried out ‘unprecedented’ development work within a short span of time. He said that colleges in several districts are being solarized and work on the allied Health Sciences Institute in Kurram District is in full swing. “The KP government has allocated Rs60 billions for the uplift of tribal belt,” Bangash informed. “For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the government is serious in mainstreaming the much neglected tribal belt.”
Replying to Inayatullah Khan, a member of Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangash said that the government provides advertisements to ABC [Audit Bureau of Circulation] certificated newspapers on the bases of its circulation. He said that a scrutiny committee under the secretary information is already working and formulate its monthly report. He said that during the last three years, the government has issued Rs150 billion worth advertisements to media. He informed that a new media advertisement policy would soon be approved in which advertisement will be linked with rights of media workers.
On the question raised by the Awami National Party (ANP) lawmaker Bahadur Khan, minister for labour and culture Shaukat Yousafzai informed the house that in Lower Dir district 20 kg flour bag is available at Rs850. However, in the open markets, the 20kg bag is available at Rs1350. Yousafzai said that Lower Dir is provided 196 metric tons of wheat on daily basis.
