PESHAWAR: The unofficial results show that the Awami National Party (ANP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) have secured victories on Mardan and Kohat city mayor positions respectively.
According to unofficial results of Mardan City Council, the ANP candidate Himayatullah was leading the city mayor election with 56,458 votes followed by Amanat Shah Haqqani with 499,388 votes.

In Kohat, unofficial results show that the JUI-F defeated its opponents and its candidate Sher Zaman has been elected a mayor of the city council. According to unofficial results, Sher Zaman has secured 34434 votes followed by an independent candidate Shafiullah Jan with 25793 votes.
According to the unofficial results of 91 out of 521 polling stations of Peshawar City Council, Zubair Ali of JUI-F is leading on the mayor seat with 8384 votes while Rizwan Bangash of PTI is second with 7509 votes. According to unofficial results of 75 polling stations out of 286 in Bannu City Council, PTI’s Iqbal Jadoon Khan is leading with 14623 votes and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam is second with 14426 votes.
So far, complete results of 28 village councils have been received, according to which 11 independent candidates have been elected for the seats of village councils. According to the results received, JUI and ANP won six seats, PTI won three seats, Jamaat-e-Islami and PML-N won one seat each. Media has received results of 16 Neighborhood Council seats, according to which nine independent candidates have won the Neighborhood Council seats. One candidate each from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam 3, ANP, PPP, PTI and PML-N has been elected to the Neighborhood Council seat.
Yesterday, the local government elections held in Charsadda, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Tank, Haripur, Buner and Bajaur. There were several incidents of disorder in many polling stations and total of five persons have lost their lives.
