The two parties discussed several issues, especially a no-confidence motion against the PTI government. The PML-N requested the MQM to support the no-confidence motion but the MQM said that they were unable to take any decision till the agenda of the opposition is made clear.
Talking to media after the meeting, Leader of Opposition Shahbaz Sharif said that discussions were held with MQM leaders on national issues. He said that the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister is a constitutional procedure to overthrow the PTI government. “The PML-N’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) has given me the authority to liaise with all parties for anti-government measures,” he said.
The PML-N leader said that the MQM does not have much time so they have to make a quick decision regarding its support for the government or the opposition political parties’ move to oust the PTI. “The MQM has to think first as a Pakistani and then as an ally of the government. They have to take every decision in the best interest of the country.”
Earlier, The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz senior leader and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that no-confidence motion will be tabled in the parliament “soon”. Talking to media, the former PM said that they have been facing cases for the last four years. “The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also accepted that it has not recovered any looted money during this time,” Abbasi claimed.
