PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) has assured the delegation of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) that it will participate in the 27 February anti-government “long march” on Islamabad.
Talking to media after the meeting, The ANP Central General Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that ANP would support every constitutional measure against the “fake” government. He said that the ANP will make every effort to strengthen democracy and will continue its struggle to overthrow the PTI government.

The PPP delegation led by Syed Khurshid Shah, former Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, visited the Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar. He was received by the ANP Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Senator Haji Hidayatullah Khan and others. The PPP delegation included provincial president Najmuddin Khan, KP information secretary Amjad Afridi and others.
The ANP Central Secretary for Foreign Affairs Syed Aqil Shah, Provincial Secretary for Culture Khadim Hussain and others were also present in the meeting.
Addressing a press conference at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar, Mian Iftikhar Hussain along with PPP leader Syed Khurshid Shah said that the present government is the most the “most corrupt” government in the history of Pakistan. “The report of Transparency International has exposed the current ruler,” Mian Iftikhar said. He said that the people wants to know on what basis the ministers were awarded by the PM as inflation and unemployment are on the rise.
Regarding the incidents of terrorism in the country, Mian Iftikhar said that terror organisations have been organised and terrorist activities are also taking place in the capital Islamabad besides Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “The increase in the incidence of terrorism is due to the lack of seriousness and incompetence of the PTI government,” the ANP leader alleged.
He said that the Awami National Party is fully prepared for the second phase of the local government election. “The rulers also tried to flee from the first round of local government elections but the Supreme Court blocked all escape routes,” Mian Iftikhar said.
The PPP leader Syed Khurshid Shah said that the most “incompetent” man in Pakistan has been “selected” as Prime Minister. He said that the economic crisis is on the rise due to the “incompetence” of the PTI government. Thus, he said the PPP has decided to hold a long march on February 27 to overthrow the government. He said that the issue of no-confidence motion will be decided during the sit-in in Islamabad.
