PESHAWAR: The Security forces on Sunday have foiled a major terror plot, killed five terrorists and apprehended two Islamic States (IS) militants.
The KP police said that during a search operation; 20 maund explosives were recovered from Hasan Khel village of Lakki Marwat district. The security forces further said that three terrorists have also been arrested.
A total of 157 detonators, Kalashnikov rifles, 1,100 meters of fuse used in blasts were also recovered. The police claimed that the terrorists were planning attacks on sensitive government installations, religious sites and security forces in the province.

In another operation in North Waziristan, unidentified terrorists attacked a security post with heavy and automatic weapons in Spinwam area of Mirali sub-division near Pak-Afghan border. The ISPR said that in fierce clash, five terrorists were killed while a security person embraced martyrdom. The slain solider was identified as 28-year-old soldier Shabir Ahmed, from Queeta.
The security forces also shared the pictures of the slain terrorists with local journalists. The terrorists were identified as Habib Nawaz alias Shakeel, Waheedullah, Abdul Rehman and Muhammadullah while the fifth is yet to be identified. The ISPR said that they involved in attacks on security forces, targeted killings and kidnappings for ransom.
A Pakistan Army spokesman said weapons and other ammunition were recovered from the terrorists’ possession, including machine guns; grenades and a large quantity of bullets are also included.
Meanwhile, the security forces said in a statement that a network of terrorists involved in remote-controlled bombings on security forces has been exposed and affidavits of two terrorists have also been issued in this regard. The security forces have said in a statement that they have received huge support from the local population in exposing the terrorist network however, their names were kept secret.
