PESHAWAR: The Islamabad district administration on Saturday filed a contempt of court petition against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami Fazl (JUIF) for the possible sit-in on Srinagar Highway.
The petition filed through Advocate General Islamabad stated that Supreme Court had declared that the administration has the power to decide venues for the political parties after looking into all matters. The petition added that in the light of court directions, no NOC was issued to JUI to hold rally on Kashmir highway, but according to the report of Special Branch, the party is planning to block the Highway.

Mufti Abdullah and Maulana Abdul Majeed Hazarawi were made parties in the petition. The district administration had allowed the JUIF to hold a rally in Islamabad on March 25, but the JUI requested a rally on March 26.
The management has directed JUI to follow the SOPs of the meeting in which it was agreed that Srinagar highway would not be closed under any circumstances. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) while announcing the schedule of “inflation march” against the government has said that all caravans will enter Islamabad on the evening of March 26 and will gather on Srinagar Highway.
Similarly, Advocate General Islamabad Niazullah Niazi submitted a report regarding the rallies of political parties before the no-confidence motion. The report said that Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has assured not to block Srinagar Highway but now the party wants to close service roads including Srinagar Highway. Niazi said that the administration has issued show-cause notice to JUI-F.
Meanwhile, senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Farhatullah Babar urged the opposition to rethink plans to hold jalsa in Islamabad on 27th. In a twitter post, he said, “Imran Khan is on the run anyway. Deny him the wish to create mayhem, run away from no trust, derail democracy and then claim political martyrdom. He deserves political death, not martyrdom.”
