Today, Pakistan is celebrating “Youm-e-Takbeer,” a day of immense pride for Pakistanis nationwide, as it marks 25 years since the country became a nuclear power. On May 28, 1998, Pakistan achieved an unassailable position by acquiring atomic capabilities.
Every year, Youm-e-Takbeer is observed in remembrance of this historic day, symbolizing revival and pride for Pakistanis and the entire Muslim community. This day brought stability and maintained the balance of power in the region.
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, played a pivotal role in fostering national spirit to pursue atomic power. He famously stated, “We will eat grass, but we will make Pakistan a nuclear power because we have no other choice.” The nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, in the district of Chagai, Balochistan, marked a monumental moment in the nation’s history, making Pakistan the seventh nuclear power in the world.
In commemoration of this day, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) organized a ceremony at Liberty Chowk, featuring a speech by Maryam Nawaz, the chief organizer of PML-N. The event, scheduled for 7 PM, will also include a spectacular fireworks display. Renowned Pakistani singer, Raja Rapstar, released a new song titled “Hum Sab Hain Pakistan” (We Are All Pakistan) dedicated to Youm-e-Takbeer.
The national anthem showcases the prominent figures who made significant contributions in various fields, including sports personalities like Javed Miandad and Moin Khan, as well as actors and social activists. The accomplishments and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces are also highlighted and honored.
