Veteran Ukrainian actress Oksana Shvets, aged 67, was killed during a Russian missile strike in Ukraine.
The US broadcaster CNN quoted Ukrainian media as saying that Oksana Shvets was killed in a Russian missile strike on a residential area in the capital, Kyiv. The report quoted the Ukrainian Theaters Society as saying that the building where the award-winning actress was staying with her family was hit by a Russian missile, which also killed the veteran actress.
The theater society and the artist community around the world expressed grief and sorrow over the “irreparable loss” of senior actress. Oksana Shvets has acted not only in Ukrainian TV but also in movies and theaters and received numerous awards for her outstanding performances.

The Ukrainian media reported that she was born in 1955 and had decades-long career in theater and film. She was termed as one of the Ukraine’s most accomplished performing artists.
Earlier, leading actor and producer Pasha Lee was also killed in a Russian attack on March 7. According to the Showbiz website Deadline, Pasha Lee confirmed his joining the security forces against Russian invasion. Lee has also posted on his social media that he has joined the armed forces along with his girlfriend against the Russian invasion. Pasha Lee was killed by Russian shelling on the outskirts of the capital, Kyiv.
Western media has reported that since Russia launched its attacks on Ukraine on February 24, although Russia has occasionally called for a ceasefire but attacks on Ukraine have continued. After the Russian invasion, Ukrainian actors and artists, like ordinary citizens, have come to the fore to protect their country. While Russian attacks have so far killed two prominent Ukrainian actors, the attack also killed several foreign journalists, filmmakers and cameramen.
