PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has re-launched the anti-government protests from Rawalpindi over high inflation.
The protest has been launched from Rawalpindi, where Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) staged protest really. The PML-N workers gathered outside Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi and chanted slogans against the PTI government. Meanwhile, the protesters also rallied against the government from Liaquat Bagh to Committee Chowk, which affected the flow of traffic on Murree Road.

The PDM has finalised a program for nation-wide rallies and procession against the government. The PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the PDM has launched a decisive movement to send “fake ruler” home.
Meanwhile Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that there is deep division within the PML-N. He said that the people of Rawalpindi are educated and know the actual reason behind the inflation. “The inflation is a global issue,” the minister said while addressing the media in Islamabad. He warned that if the PDMs took the law into their hands, the law enforcement agencies would take strict action against them. He assured that the government will not create any hurdle until the PDM protests remain peaceful.
The PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has told a news conference that protests against high inflation will be held across the country from October 20 at district level. He said that protests will be staged at provincial and district headquarters to mobilise the people against the “anti-people polices” of the PTI government.
Similarly, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has announced its own country-wide protest rallies against inflation from 31 October. Haq said that the people of Pakistan are facing the highest inflation and unemployment in the region. The JI leader said that the JI is going started a campaign against the “anti-people policies” of the government. Haq informed that the party will decide the future course of action in its rally on Islamabad.
