PESHAWAR: Despite clear instructions from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, various health projects in the tribal districts yet to be merged with the provincial health department.
Sources said that the TB control in the tribal districts, Malaria and victor control program, AIDs control program, Hepatitis and EPI and other were announced to be merged with the province but only the Extended Program of Immunization (EPI) program has been merged with KP health department. The remaining programs are operating under different authority in tribal districts and settled areas of the province.

Sources said that after the merger of tribal districts with the province, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had proposed to managed all the health program in tribal districts including in tribal districts under single authority.
But due to unnecessary delays, the said programs have not yet come under one arrangement. There are complaints of parallel health system in settled and tribal districts. The Health Secretariat sources said letters have been written to the health directorate several times in this regard but and the health directorate in tribal districts have also been dissolved but the health program still operates under separates authorities and also claiming separate expenditure.
