PESHAWAR: According to the data collected by the provincial Home and Tribal affairs department, there has been 90% increase in terrorism incidents in Balochistan in 2021 as compared to the previous year.
The official report said that last year, 137 terror incidents were reported but in 2021, a total of 260 incidents took place in which 138 people were martyred and 421 people were injured.

The report said that from 1st January 2021 to 24 December, 13 attacks on police were reported in which 8 policemen were martyred and 79 were killed. Six attacks were also carried out against the Levies forces as result five personnel were martyred.
The report informed that this year, 37 people were martyred and 74 killed in 20 Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) blasts. While six people were martyred and 73 killed in 36 different grenade attacks. According to the report, two people were killed and one injured in 18 rocket attacks in the province, this year.
Two persons were martyred and 16 other injured in 18 rocket attacks while four were martyred in eight Landmine blast and nine in anti-personnel blast mines in Balochistan. According to statistics, there have been no incidents of sectarian violence, attack on Polio Workers, Sui Gas Pipelines, and QESCO Towers reported as compared to previous years. While attack each was reported on Sunni clerics, Hazaras and the Coast Guard in the province.
In July, this year, the government announced to hold talks with Baloch militants and assigned the responsibility to Shah Zain Bugti to restore law and order in Balochistan. Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry had told reporters the federal cabinet has taken the decision to hold talks with those elements which are not in touch with India. The minister said that India’s terrorist network in Balochistan has been busted to a great extent.
