PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Peoples party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday assured the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman that the PPP will support the no-trust move against PM Imran Khan.
In a telephonic conversation with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the former president assured the PDM that he is with the entire opposition on the issue of no-trust move against the “selected” government. The two leaders also discussed the political situation of the country. Rehman said that he would soon contact the allies of the government to make the move a success.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman will also address the Ulema Mashaikh Conference at Raiwind Road Lahore today. The PDM chief had arrived in Lahore on a two-day visit yesterday and also presided over a virtual meeting of the PDM. He has announced to table no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said the PDM will also convince the government allies as its success will be impossible without their support. Rehman has informed that a team has been formed to liaise with the coalition parties of the government.
Earlier, the Awami National party (ANP) has announced that they will support the no-confidence motion against the ruling party.
However, the government had downplayed the opposition announcement; saying that they do not have the required numbers in parliament to launch the no-trust motion against PM. Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed downplayed the announcement, saying that PDM will neither bring no-trust move nor the “long march” to Islamabad on March 23.
Ahmed said that the opposition together could not defeat Imran Khan inside and outside the House because they do not have the required numbers. He maintained that opposition also do not have the manpower to carry out the “long march”. The minister said that the PDM’s 11 February meeting was a “failed” gathering.
