PESHAWAR: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the victory of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) in Local Government election is not “encouraging” as the party “support violent policies to gain power.”
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Fawad Chaudhry said that he was disappointed with the arrival of JUI-F in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “The rise of JUIF in KP and Tehreek-e-Labbaik-Pakistan in Punjab show that everything is not going on well in the country,” the minister said in his press conference. “These parties are against women’s rights, against liberties and are in favour of violent policies to get power. It is not encouraging. It is unfortunate that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is regaining power in KP.”

On the other hand, in response to Fawad Chaudhry’s statements, the JUI-F said that “those who call the constitution-making party, JUIF, extremists are themselves following extremists policies” The JUI-F central leader Hafiz Hamdullah said, “Fawad Chaudhry was not even born when the JUIF government was in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Before the birth of Chaudhry, there was a democratic figure like Mufti Mahmood who gave Pakistan a unanimous constitution in 1973.”
“Under the constitution signed by Mufti Mahmood, you’ve become a minister and Imran Khan has become the prime minister,” the JUI-F leader responded. Hamdullah said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was the victim of three suicide attacks while fighting for the constitution, parliament and democracy. He accused the PTI of attacks on Parliament during 2014 sit-in, attack on PTV, attack on police, declaration of civil disobedience and rebellion against state. He said that all these steps show that PTI has used every ‘extremist’ step to gain power in the country.
The JUI-F said that the ruling party is embarrassed due to its loss in the election because of “flawed” policies and “incompetence”.
